What You Will Study
Our horticulture course will engage you in a practical and inspiring environment, working with plants, soil, and landscapes to develop essential skills. You will gain hands-on experience in plant cultivation, garden design, landscape management and sustainable horticultural practices.
Our horticulture course will open the door to a vibrant and rewarding field, where you will develop the knowledge and skills to grow, design, and manage a wide variety of plants and landscapes. From the fundamentals of plant care and garden planning to more advanced topics like sustainable practices and horticultural business, the course offers a well-rounded learning experience.
You will work in our cutting-edge triple span polytunnel, apply your skills across the college’s extensive estate, and refine propagation and arranging techniques in the cutting garden. Learning goes beyond the classroom with industry visits, expert-led workshops, and masterclasses giving you valuable insight and connections to help launch your career in horticulture.

Entry Requirements
You will need to achieve four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English language and maths.
How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment will be through synoptic, a mix of practical and written assessments, along with two externally set exams.
Course Progression
Upon successful completion at Merit, you could progress to Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture. Alternatively you may wish to gain employment or an apprenticeship.
Where Your Course Can Take You
Our course will support you to explore a variety of careers in areas such as a gardener, landscaper, horticultural assistant or even working at a garden centre.
Fees
