Summary

This course is an exciting opportunity to develop a range of knowledge and skills in a variety of construction trade areas. The course will include both practical and theory sessions and you will also cover personal development topics to develop employability skills to support progress to an apprenticeship, further study or employment opportunities.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal GCSE entry requirements, but you will be expected to attend a pre-enrolment taster day.

Learning Outcomes

  • Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare
  • Using Carpentry and Joinery hand tools
  • Introductory Bricklaying with the opportunity to explore extension models.
  • Learning how to use plastering tools and how to apply.
  • Introductory Tiling including using a tile cutter.
  • Painting and wallpapering skills

Objective

This course will help you develop practical skills and underpinning knowledge in a range of trade areas.

Assessment

All practical assessments will be taken in the workshops. Theory assessments will be taken under exam conditions.

Progression

This course can lead onto a trade specific Level 1 course in your chosen trade pathway.

Fees

If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free. If you are aged 19 and over please contact the Advice Shop.
