What You Will Study

Our Floristry Level 2 course is ideal if you are considering a career in the floristry industry. If you like to interact with others, be creative and are keen to develop practical skills, then this qualification is for you.

This Technical Certificate will introduce you to the exciting world of floral design, giving you the skills to create stunning arrangements and understand the business of floristry. You will learn key design principles, plant care, and customer service, while advanced lessons explore techniques for large-scale displays, event planning, and running a floristry business. With access to our triple-span polytunnel for growing flowers, a cutting garden for fresh materials, and hands-on projects across he college estate, you will gain plenty of practical experience.

The course is designed for learners aged 16–19 and welcomes you whether you have little or no previous knowledge or experience in floristry. Whether you’ve always wanted to explore your creativity or are just discovering a new passion, you’ll gain valuable, lifelong skills and knowledge. Along the way, you’ll build friendships with like-minded people while preparing for an exciting career in this fast-growing and rewarding sector.

During the course, you’ll learn about sustainability in floristry, from responsible sourcing to the care and handling of flowers, foliage, and plants. You’ll develop a wide variety of creative techniques for arranging fresh, dried, and artificial materials for occasions such as weddings, events, and funerals.

Entry Requirements

You will need to achieve four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English language and maths.

How You Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed through mock exams, a synoptic practical exam, a theory exam, and a health and safety exam.

Course Progression

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto our Floristry Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma having achieved a Merit or above and with the relevant maths and English grades.

Where Your Course Can Take You

You could consider a career in the retail sector as a florist or wholesale assistant, or even progress to running your own business. Many of our previous students have gone on to specialise in event floristry, creating arrangements for weddings, special occasions, and funerals. Others have become freelance florists, working with corporate hotel chains and designing large-scale floral displays as part of a team.

There are also exciting opportunities to work abroad, including roles as an onboard florist for cruise ships. With further study, you could pursue a career as a tutor or assessor, sharing your expertise with the next generation of florists.

Fees
