What are the courses about?
Our courses are ideal if you want to go into a career in the armed forces or emergency services. You will gain the knowledge and analytical skills needed to enter a broad range of uniformed services. This includes the police, intelligence services and civil service.
What will I do as part of the courses?
You will gain experience and insight into a range of themes including terrorism and insurgency, organised crimes, global security and human rights issues. Policing courses look at legislation and procedures, criminal investigations, policing communities, response and roads policing and evidence-based policing and research methods.
You will learn about careers in the sector and develop the physical and interpersonal skills. There will also be opportunities to further develop technical skills through outdoor activities such as navigation.
Progression
You can progress to higher level study, including go on to study a degree in Crime, Terrorism and Global Security or Professional Policing, The Policing degree is aligned to the National Policing Curriculum, where you will cultivate a strong grounding in the theory and practice of policing, the criminal justice system and crime matters necessary to start your police career.
There’s lots of apprenticeship and employment opportunities available in research, security services, unformed services, police, MI5/6 and government.
