Job Title: Yield Digger (Summer Role)

Area: Cambridgeshire/Norfolk

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Business Overview
Greens of Soham is part of Top Farms International which farms over 75,000 Ha across the UK and
Central and Eastern Europe with a well-established track record of delivering solid business and
revenue growth. In the UK we farm in excess of 2,000 Ha, primarily in East Anglia but with operations
also in Northumberland and the Scottish borders. Our primary focus is potatoes and beetroot and
we are the largest grower of these crops in the UK.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as Yield Diggers. This role
involves digging, collecting, and assessing potato yields from designated field areas. You will be
responsible for gathering accurate yield data to support crop performance evaluations and harvest
planning.

Experience is not necessary but the desire to learn some new skills and get an insight into the
processes that help food end up on your plate is a must. Most duties will be within 40 miles of CB7
so a driving License and a vehicle is essential (mileage will be paid).
This is an active, hands-on role that requires early starts and the ability to navigate between field
locations safely throughout the day. You’ll need to be comfortable with a mix of driving and walking,
as sample collection often involves working directly in the fields.
You will be provided with a daily work schedule and sampling equipment as well as full instruction
on how to collect and handle crop samples, adhering to our health and safety protocols.

Key Accountabilities
• Manually dig and collect potatoes from designated sample areas within fields
• Weigh and record the yield from each sample plot accurately
• Assist in grading or sorting sample potatoes by size or quality when needed
• Maintain clear records of field locations and yield results
• Communicate field observations (e.g., crop issues, soil conditions) to your supervisor
• Ensure equipment is clean, well-maintained, and used safely

Essential Skills and Requirements
• Experience in field or agricultural work is an advantage, but not required
• Ability to carry out repetitive physical tasks (bending, lifting, walking on uneven ground)
• Good attention to detail for accurate measuring and recording
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and in a team
