What You Will Study

Explore the fascinating world of animal behaviour and welfare, gaining the skills and knowledge to work confidently with a wide range of species.

This T Level combines classroom learning with real-world experience, so you will spend time on campus and in industry placements. From understanding why animals behave the way they do, to learning how to care for them responsibly, you will develop expertise that employers value.

Entry Requirements

  • Achieve five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language, science and maths.
  • Completion of a taster day.

How You Will Be Assessed

You will be assessed through a combination of externally set and marked components to ensure your knowledge and skills meet industry standards. This includes:

  • Two externally set and externally marked exams covering core knowledge and concepts.
  • One externally set, externally moderated assignment focusing on applied understanding.
  • An externally set and moderated synoptic assessment, where you will demonstrate your practical and theoretical skills across real-world scenarios.
  • 315 hours of industry placement – gaining hands-on experience in professional settings over the two years.

These assessments are designed to prepare you for the demands of working in the animal care and management sector.

Course Progression

After completing this T Level, you could progress to higher education, studying courses such as: animal behaviour and welfare degrees, zoology or wildlife conservation courses, animal science or related animal science programmes.
