What You Will Study
Soils is an essential resource which provides the foundation for sustainable crop production systems. The Basis Foundation Award in Soils will enable farmers and advisers to understand the relationship between the physical, biological and chemical processes that contribute to the quality of soils and how soils functioning can be influenced both positively and negatively by farming practices.
The course is made up of six modules providing in-depth knowledge on the characteristics and properties of soil, soil biology and life, organic matter and carbon cycle and soil management and remediation practices.
This course offers a sound introduction to effective soil management for anyone interested in improving the sustainability and profitability of farming systems. Understanding how to effectively manage or advise on the management of soils is a key role for all farm managers and farm advisers, as well as the wider environment.
Training dates: 19th January 2026, 20th January 2026, 26th January 2026, 27th January 2026 and 2nd February 2026 - 9am to 5pm each day.
The assessment will take place on 3rd February 2026.
