What You Will Study
The Professional Gardener Course is a friendly, confidence-boosting introduction to working in the world of plants, gardens, and outdoor spaces.
If you enjoy being outdoors, working with your hands, and seeing the results of your efforts grow over time, this course is a great way to explore the wide variety of roles horticulture has to offer.
During the programme, you’ll discover what it’s like to work as a gardener, from planting and maintaining gardens to caring for tools and supporting the upkeep of green spaces. You’ll also pick up hands-on skills that help you feel prepared and ready for your next step: whether that’s progressing into further training, volunteering, or starting work in the sector.
By joining this course, you will:
- Learn what day-to-day horticulture work is really like
- Build confidence working outdoors and as part of a team
- Develop practical skills such as planting, maintenance, and basic garden care
- Understand how to use tools safely and effectively
- Feel ready to take positive next steps into horticulture or land-based work
Professional Gardener is a welcoming, practical course designed to help you discover new opportunities and grow in confidence while working in an outdoor environment.
This course will run from 9.30am to 4pm on 5th May, 6th May, 11th May, 12th May, 18th May and 19th May .
On completion of this course you will achieve a L1 Award in Practical Horticulture.
Entry Requirements
This course is open to applicants aged 19 and over. There are no specific prior achievements required to take this qualification, and you may or may not have had previous experience in horticulture. This qualification will allow you to develop and practise the skills required for employment and progression within the wide and varied horticulture sector.
How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment over the duration of the course will be written or through observation.
Course Progression
You could move onto our Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture.
Where Your Course Can Take You
You could move into employment in the gardening sector.
Fees
