Golfing success in English Schools Team Championship

24th July 2024 – Tags: Sport

Easton College has won the annual English Schools Team golf Championship thanks to superb performances by Sports Performance and Excellence students Luke Johnson and Doris Thomas.

The achievement was all the more impressive because most teams in the competition had three players, but Luke and Doris were undeterred as they came out on top at Woodhall Spa’s Bracken Course.

Luke was also the winner of the individual Stableford competition after firing 42 points, as the 9-handicapper enjoyed a fantastic gross score of 75, including a birdie and 14 pars.

2-handicapper Doris picked up four birdies and eight pars as her 35 points helped Easton College to 77 points overall.

With the top two scores of three players from each school counting, the duo’s haul was five points better than their nearest competitors, St Robert of Newminster, Durham, and Etonbury Academy, Bedfordshire (both 72 points).
